As a precautionary measure, all school sites have been notified, and sites have been placed on alert, with students remaining inside until further notice. Dear AUSD Families, As Winter Break begins, we want to remind you about the valuable online resource available to all Alpine Union School District students—the Sora digital library. Sora provides access to a wide range of student books, including audiobooks, and can be accessed at any time. Here's how your child can make the most of this resource: 1. Accessing Sora: Log into their Google account Navigate to Clever Log into Clever (should be automatic) Click on the Sora app Once in Sora, log in using your Google credentials. This is a one-time requirement, and subsequent logins will be automatic. Note: If you're unsure about your student’s Google login information, please reach out to your child’s teacher. 2. Exploring the San Diego County Public Library: In addition to our library, students can also access books from the San Diego County Public Library through Sora: After logging into Sora, click on the down arrow next to Alpine Union School District (under EXPLORE) on the top left-hand side Search for San Diego County Library and click on San Diego County Library Digital Media Choose your desired book Click "borrow" Select Alpine Union School District Click on the blue bar Click on your student's email address again Click on borrow again Access the book by clicking on “shelf” at the bottom of the screen We highly encourage students to make the most of these resources during the winter holiday break. Reading is always a wonderful way to engage and unwind. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact me at jweinert@alpineschools.net. Happy reading! Dear AUSD Families, We want to keep you informed about the status of our school openings. We are closely monitoring the evolving weather conditions and staying up-to-date with all weather reports and alerts. We are also aware that San Diego Unified decided earlier today to close its schools tomorrow. The storm is expected to fully pass through our community in the early hours of tomorrow. We intend to have all our schools open tomorrow.   We understand that maintaining a consistent learning experience is of utmost importance. We also understand how much our families depend on our schools to provide a secure environment for their children throughout the workday. Consequently, we want to affirm our commitment to keeping our schools open as long as conditions permit. Please rest assured that the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families are of paramount importance to us. We will continue to keep a watchful eye on the weather developments. We will make any necessary adjustments to our plans to ensure our students' best possible learning environment. Please stay updated by checking district and school emails, social media, and school websites for further announcements.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.   Stay safe, Dr. Rich Newman Proudest Superintendent on Earth
