Dear AUSD Families, The safety of our students, staff, and school community is our top priority. With this in mind, we want to keep you updated on the latest information regarding school closures. We will be closing schools tomorrow, Friday, December 4 due to the power outages, which are expected to continue through tomorrow. Teachers are preparing asynchronous activities for students in the event that the power is restored. These will be posted in each teacher’s Google Classroom. In addition, Governor Newsom has just announced that regions, where ICU capacity falls below 15%, will be placed into a Regional Stay-At-Home order. Governor Newsom stated that when regions are placed into the Regional Stay-At-Home order critical infrastructure, schools, retail (at 20% capacity), and restaurants (take out and delivery) will remain open. Here is the link to the latest update regarding the Stay-At-Home order. We will continue to keep you updated with the latest information. Stay well and healthy and take care of your loved ones. Sincerely, Dr. Rich Newman Proudest Superintendent on Earth

Dear AUSD Families, The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning in effect for inland Orange County and San Diego County valleys and mountains from 6 p.m. today through 10 p.m. on Saturday. They also issued a high wind watch from 1 a.m. Thursday morning until Friday at noon. Should power shutoffs occur while students are on campus, the school day will continue as normal until students are picked up or the day ends. We remain in close contact with the San Diego County Office of Education, SDGE, and other officials and will keep you updated on any impact. You can get more information about public safety power outages through SDG&E’s public safety power shutoff mobile app. For location details and updated information on outages and when power may be turned back on, visit SDGE.com/Outages. Each year schools are required to complete and submit information to determine how much Federal Impact Aid funding they will receive. The amount of Federal Impact Aid Alpine Union receives is determined by the actual number of our students whose parents are employed by the Federal Government, are active military, or are living or working on property owned by the Federal Government or living or working on property owned by a Native American Tribal Government. To qualify for funding, we need a completed survey form for every student attending our District. Please take a moment to complete the survey by December 1, 2020. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf0TlgX6fGMLGf_Ko4PTa6vnTDSoUm077Nk_9KDaCk6pkAwIg/viewform

Phase three reopening
Dear CELC Parents, Good morning CELC families. The AUSD Board of Trustees voted at Tuesday night’s board meeting to implement our Phase III Learning model on January 19, 2021. In phase III, our face-to-face students will attend school four days a week - Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Wednesdays will remain a distance learning day to allow for deep cleaning in the classrooms and other areas of the campus. We will also continue to offer a 100% Distance Learning Model. The Hybrid A/B Model will no longer be offered. During phase III, there will be very few changes to the instructional day. Our 100% Distance Learning students will remain in their homerooms and Zoom at various times during the day. These Zoom times might change depending on the teacher and/or program. Your child’s teacher will be providing more information if there are any changes to the day. CELC will remain on the same schedule with staggered drop off and pick up times. We realize that this decision might prompt families to consider changing their child’s current model. If you desire to change your student’s learning model to 100% Distance Learning or to Face-to-Face four days a week, you must notify the office by Thursday, November 19th at 2:00 PM. Otherwise, current Hybrid Face-to-Face students will automatically switch to Face-to-Face four days a week and current 100% Distance Learning students will remain in 100% Distance Learning. Please either call or email the school office ONLY if you want to change your current learning model. Office: 619-619-659-8250 Email: mbarkley@alpineschools.net or cbrown@alpineschools.net. Lastly, we are asking that students stay in their learning model of choice from January 19, 2021 until March 8th which marks the beginning of our third trimester. Changes from one learning model to the next will not be allowed unless your child is on quarantine from a COVID-19 symptom or has had a close contact with a positive COVID-19 case. On March 8th, we will open up the opportunity to change models. Thank you for your understanding and patience through these unprecedented times. We appreciate it immensely. We will be sending out further communications prior to January 19, 2021 to review the schedules and COVID-19 policies/procedures. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me. We look forward to seeing the students four days a week! Sincerely, Tamara Ripke, Principal tripke@alpineschools.net
