Hello Boulder Oaks Families, Happy Monday! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and our beautiful weather. We are busy planning and preparing for our Phase 3 Return to School Plan and are really looking forward to our students being back on campus four days a week. As we plan for outdoor learning space and revamp schedules, it is imperative that we know which students that are currently doing 100% distance learning plan on returning to face-to-face instruction. The deadline to make this decision is March 5th. At that point, you must commit to your learning model and no one will be allowed to return to face-to-face instruction if they have not already decided to do so. If your child is currently in the hybrid model, they automatically will return to four days a week. You do not need to notify us. Once again, you must notify us ONLY if your child is switching learning models (100% Distance Learning to Face-to-Face or Face-to-Face to 100% Distance Learning). Thank you! By now, I am sure you are all aware of our drop-off and pick-up guidelines. Thank you for everything you are doing to follow them. Now we are asking that you share them with anyone who might drop-off and pick-up your child. We have noticed that some of our wonderful grandparents are not aware as they do not receive these emails. We would very much appreciate it if you could relay the information to them. Thank you! Curbside Drop-off: Please pull all the way forward. Have your child exit the car on the right-hand side. Make sure your child has his or her backpack, mask, and other belongings ready to go so the car can be exited quickly. Please do NOT get out of the car to help your child put on his or her backpack. Curbside Pick-up: Please pull forward. This allows us to get more children in the cars at once. Have your child enter the car on the right-hand side. Please do NOT get out of your car to help your child load into the car. Please do NOT look for your child as you drive by – keep your eyes on where your car is going. General Rules: There is no parking on the red curb that goes along the edge of the parking lot circle. If you wait in this line to pick-up your student, you must remain in your vehicle. Private passenger vehicles are reminded that school buses have the right of way when loading and unloading students and entering and exiting the parking lot. If somebody else is picking up your child, please let them know the procedures. Have your child’s last name CLEARLY displayed on your dashboard. Right turn only out of the parking lot. Remember, we all want the same thing at dismissal – safety and efficiency for ALL. I am thrilled to announce that we exceeded our PTA Membership goal with 124 memberships. Thank you to each and every one of you that joined. We immensely appreciate your support! Congratulations to the following class winners: 1st Place: Mrs. Ellis’ Class Tie for 2nd Place: Mrs. Sacks’ Class and Mrs. Hoffman’s Class We will be sending home prizes and stickers within the next two weeks. Thank you again for your support! Three more weeks until we are all together again! I cannot wait! Jenna Weinert

COVID-19 test
Hello Boulder Oaks Families, I hope you all had a great three day weekend and Valentine’s Day. As you are all aware, AUSD has announced that we will be implementing Phase 3 of our Re-Opening School Plan on March 15th. We are very excited that the students will be returning to a four-day-a-week schedule and are busy planning and preparing. At this point, we are assuming that all current Hybrid Students will transition to Phase 3 (four days a week) and that all current 100% Distance Learning students will remain in 100% Distance Learning. If you intend to change your child’s learning model when we transition to Phase 3, please notify the school office by this Friday, February 19th. This applies to anyone wanting to transition to Face-to-Face from 100% Distance Learning and anyone that is currently Face-to-Face and wants to change to 100% Distance Learning. It is extremely important that we have accurate numbers when we are planning for Phase 3 and room configurations. Thank you in advance!!! School hours will remain the same and Wednesday will continue to be a Distance Learning day. Our staggered drop-off and dismissal will be exactly the same as it has been since September except that we will have twice the number of people dropping off and picking up at once. Your exact time of drop-off and pick-up will remain what it has been until now to maintain consistency for each family. Please see the schedule below. Staggered Drop-Off and Pick-Up Phase 3 8:25 A-D and L-N 8:35 E-G and O-R 8:45 G-J and S-T 8:55 J-L and T-Z 1:37 A-D and L-N 1:47 E-G and O-R 1:57 G-J and S-T 2:07 J-L and T-Z As I have mentioned in the past few previous Weekly Updates, drop-off and pick-up could likely take much longer than it takes now especially for the first week or two. But, by working together and everyone following our drop-off and pick-up guidelines, I am confident that we can get into our new routine quickly and hopefully make the process go smoothly and efficiently. As a reminder, the guidelines are below and we ask you to start practicing them now so that your child is in the habit of exiting and entering the car quickly: Curbside Drop-off: Please pull all the way forward. Remember, we all want the same thing at dismissal – safety and efficiency for ALL. On behalf of the entire BOES Staff, I would like to extend a huge congratulations to both our Teacher of the Year and our Classified Employee of the Year. Kris Itokazu was recognized as our Teacher of the Year and Allison Haseleu is our Classified Employee of the Year. Both of these remarkable women are known for going above and beyond, sacrificing for others, and for making a great positive impact on our students. We could not be any prouder to have them representing BOES. Our PTA Membership Drive ends this Friday, February 19th. We are only seven memberships away from reaching our goal of 100!!! If you have not joined already, please consider doing so. It is only $15 and your support really benefits our school. Here is the link: https://jointotem.com/ca/alpine/boulder-oaks-elementary-pta We are counting the days until we are back four days a week. I am so incredibly proud to be part of a district that is truly leading the way in getting kids back on campus. Thank you for supporting us through it all! Jenna Weinert

COVID-19 test
Hello Boulder Oaks Families, I hope that you all had a great weekend! Thank you for sending in your student’s Valentines last week. We had so many delivered to the office on Friday and it was fun for the office staff and me to see how you all got creative with Valentines this year. Thank you for following our guidelines and helping to make the upcoming holiday fun for our students despite the circumstances. Last week we started MAP testing in all of our second through fifth-grade classes. So far the kids have been doing a great job and are enduring testing both at school and at home. If your child is testing at home, it is important to remember to let him or her take the test without your assistance so the teacher has a true understanding of your student’s growth and knows where to go next with instruction. Additionally, our students will be starting to take a variety of other summative and formative assessments for our upcoming report cards at the beginning of March. Again, if your child is learning at home, please ensure that your student is completing these important assessments and is doing so independently. As we look forward to a possible return to a four-day week later this year, it is important that we start preparing especially at drop-off and pick-up. As mentioned in last week’s weekly update, please follow these guidelines during drop-off and pick-up: Curbside Drop-off: Please pull all the way forward. If somebody else is picking up your child, please let them know the procedures. Right turn only out of the parking lot. Remember, we all want the same thing at dismissal – safety and efficiency for ALL. Our PTA Membership Drive continues until February 19th. If you have not joined yet, we highly encourage you to do so. The flyer with the QR Code can be found below. It is quick and easy and helps support our school. As a reminder, everyone who joins receives a BOES sticker. If you would like to learn more about PTA or become involved in PTA either this year or next year, we highly encourage you to attend our next meeting which is this Thursday from 5:30-6:30 via Zoom. Here is the Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9386495394 We are in need of donations of water bottles. If you are able to donate any, please drop them off at the school office anytime between 8 and 4. Thank you! There is no school this upcoming Monday due to Washington’s birthday and no school the following Monday, 2/15 due to President’s Day. Thank you for all you are doing for your child and for continuing to make the best out of our situation. I appreciate you more than you know! Jenna Weinert

Covid vaccine
Hello Boulder Oaks Families, I hope you had a warm and cozy weekend! I am sure you all saw the news that AUSD was able to vaccinate all of our staff members who chose to receive it this past week. This was an incredible time for us as we are finally able to see a light at the end of the tunnel and it gets us one step closer to all students returning to campus. We could not be any more thankful for the opportunity!! In anticipation of all students returning at some point this year, we would like to start preparing for the longer drop-off and pick-up times. Those of you that have attended BOES before know that both of these processes have taken a lot longer in the past; especially our pick-up line. In order to make this as smooth as possible, we are asking all of our parents to start “practicing” helping your child get in and out of the car quickly. We ask that you follow these guidelines: Curbside Drop-off: Please pull all the way forward. Right turn only out of the parking lot. Remember, we all want the same thing at dismissal – safety and efficiency for ALL. Be sure to send in your Valentine cards anytime THIS WEEK so that we can quarantine them. Valentines turned in after the 29th will not be accepted. Please remember to NOT send in anything edible with your Valentines including candy. Thank you! Thank you to everyone that has already joined PTA. We will start to send home stickers to all of our members soon! Please remember that joining PTA does not commit you to attend meetings. It is just simply purchasing a membership. Anyone who joins will receive a BOES sticker and the class with the highest percentages of memberships, all students will receive a BOES t-shirt. In our 2nd and 3rd place classes, all students will receive a BOES bracelet. I highly encourage you to join as we work to build back up our PTA for the 2021-2022 school year!! A flyer with the link to join is attached. We are still seeking volunteers to join Zooms with your child’s class and share a book, skill, or do a project with the class. You can read your favorite children’s book to the class, talk about your career, or do an art or science project with the class! You can also record yourself reading a book with your child and your teacher will share that with the class. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you are interested! Our 2nd-5th graders will be starting MAP testing within the next two weeks in the areas of math and reading. As a reminder, the MAP assessment is used to measure our students’ growth and to help us make informed instructional decisions. Thank you for your support of BOES! Have a wonderful week and stay dry! Hello Boulder Oaks Families, I hope you all had a wonderful three-day weekend. As we enter into our 16th week of being open, I want to thank you once again for holding strong and persevering through this challenging time. Also, thank you for helping us uphold our protocols so that we can all stay safe. You may have already heard from your child’s teacher, we WILL be celebrating Valentine’s Day at Boulder Oaks. Please see the attached flyer for all of the details and be sure to send in your Valentine cards anytime between January 25th - 29th so that we can quarantine them. Valentines turned in after the 29th will not be accepted. Thank you! Over the next four weeks, we will be holding another PTA membership drive with the hopes of engaging as many parents as we possibly can in PTA. Even though our PTA is unable to do some of our usual activities this year, it is important that we continue to build a strong PTA so we can bring back every single one of our PTA programs next year!! These include both our art docent program and our PE Lab program as well as our fundraisers and activities days like Western Days. Behind the scenes, our PTA has provided each teacher with classroom supplies and goodies before we went face-to-face and during the holidays this year. As mentioned in last week’s weekly update, we would like our parents to be involved in our school even though they cannot physically be on campus. In a collaborative effort with our School Site Council, we are asking for volunteers to join Zooms with your child’s class and share a book, skill, or do a project with the class. You can read your favorite children’s book to the class, talk about your career, or do an art or science project with the class! Please see the attached flyer for more details and contact your child’s teacher to arrange a time to Zoom with the class. Our School Site Council meets this Thursday at 7:45. Anyone is welcome to join the meeting. Please use this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9386495394. We will have make-up pictures days for all of our students that were unable to get their pictures taken a few weeks ago. Cohort B will be this Thursday, January 21st and Cohort A will be next Tuesday, January 26th. 100% Distance Learners who missed picture day can come either day at 12:00 to have their picture taken. Thanks for all you do! Have a great week! Jenna Weinert

Hello Boulder Oaks Families, I hope that you all had a great weekend! We had a fantastic first week back at school after break. A huge thank you goes out to both students and staff for holding strong with all of our safety protocols. Thank you for continuing to monitor your child for any symptoms and for being diligent about keeping your child home and calling the school office. By maintaining our standards, it will enable us to continue to stay open. We are desperately missing the involvement of our parents on our school site. Over the next few weeks, we will be focused on engaging our parents in other ways so that we can still feel connected as a school family. Next Tuesday, January 19th we will begin a month-long PTA Membership drive. Simultaneously, we will be inviting all of our parents to participate in classrooms by sharing a skill with the class or doing a read-aloud. More information will be forthcoming from your child’s teacher. Join us for VIRTUAL FUN FRIDAYS. This Friday, January 15th, is Dress up your Pet Day. Share a picture of your favorite pet dressed up on #virtualfunfriday. There is no school this upcoming Monday, January 18th, due to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Have a wonderful week ahead and enjoy your upcoming three day weekend! Jenna Weinert
