Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Marcos Michel
I have been an elementary bilingual school teacher for a long time, 25 years to be exact. I was raised here in sunny San Diego, California. I attended UCSD and received a B.A. degree in Visual Arts and a Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential with an emphasis in Spanish. After my second year in the classroom, I returned to school and received a M.A. degree in Education.
I am excited and proud to be the third grade Spanish Immersion teacher. I want my students and parents to understand that biliterate skills are an asset. Students will have the opportunity to improve their chances for academic success and at the same time develop crucial cross-cultural understanding and respect.
I teach because I enjoy sharing the knowledge that I have acquired throughout the years with my students. I like to help students find their personal interests and help them understand that with the right attitude and hard word, anything is possible. I believe that teaching is much more than learning state standards, it is about building relationships with students and helping them visualize their true potential. I enjoy contributing to making Shadow Hills Elementary a better place where our students come to school every day with a smile and are always ready to learn and have fun.
In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors-- camping with my family. I also enjoy mountain biking, surfing, off-roading, working on cars, listening to music, and watching movies.
