Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to third grade!
My name is Vicki Pool and I'm proud and excited to be part of the Boulder Oaks Elementary School team! We are a close-knit group who bring out the best in each other and in our students.
I started my teaching career a million years ago in Lemon Grove where I taught 10 years before moving to Alpine. I feel very fortunate to have had the fantastic opportunity to teach where I live and send my children to my school. Yes, they even survived in my class.
I have been teaching in Alpine since 1991, and have taught most elementary grades from pre-k to eighth in my career. I seem to have found a special attachment to third grade! One of the best things ever is I job share with Kris Itokazu and have for 22 years! We pride ourselves in being a well-oiled machine.
I received my BA at SDSU, go Aztecs, and completed my Masters in curriculum and instruction at American College of Education. I have a GATE certificate and continue my education through in-services, conferences and workshops. Learning is lifelong for me.
Personally, I am married with three grown children in which two also teach! Go figure! My greatest joy is my one-year-old grandson. I will show you multiple picutres if you ask! My belief is that teaching should be creative and FUN! If I am having fun in the classroom my students will too, and as a result learning will take place. The atmosphere should be safe and nurturing. I work very hard to make sure my classroom reflects these qualities. I feel privileged that parents trust me with their most prized possession daily.
Our classroom motto is "I Can, I Will, and I'll Try."
